After a bumpy entry, Capcom asks players for feedback on Dragon’s Dogma 2 (and if they’d like some proper DLC) via an online survey-

Dragon’s Dogma 2, despite being a solid bit of action RPG fun, definitely has its problems. Performance nightmares abound on PC, and while none of the game’s microtransactions make much sense at all (with almost all of them being available in-game) they’re still a fair reason to be put off from the whole thing.

All of this has led to a dumpster fire of an initial performance on Steam’s user review system, which placed it at a 39% positive rating. At the time of writing, that’s since climbed to 55%—and while that suggests players’ problems melt away when they actually play the game, general sentiment has been complex, with some players decrying wonky difficulty scaling and low-level-mook infested roads.

I’m having a smashing time myself, but who knows. Maybe the 40 plus hour ennui hasn’t set in, or maybe it’s just a taste thing: there’s no accounting for it, after all. Still, it looks like Capcom’s been at least a little shaken by the backlash. A Dragon’s Dogma 2 us…

Blasphemous 2’s new expansion and update adds more areas, bosses, and a New Game Plus mode, giving me another reason to suffer through this fantastic metroidvania again

It’s been over a year since Blasphemous 2 was released, and nearly made me destroy my controller after a particularly rough mini-boss fight. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. And with the announcement of a new expansion and update, it looks like I have no choice but to revisit the rage-inducing metroidvania.

The Mea Culpa expansion adds two new areas and bosses, four quests, an alternative ending for the Penitent One, an apparently familiar weapon and ability, prayers, rosary beads, achievements, and nine OST tracks by Carlos Viola. “Mea Culpa is a premium expansion for Blasphemous 2,” reads the announcement post. “The expansion’s story centres around Mea Culpa, the lost sword wielded by The Penitent One in the first game.”

There’ll also be a free update (True Torment) releasing alongside Mea Culpa, which will introduce a New Game Plus mode as well as “an expansion of existing zones (around 40%) and new zone connections, new abilities, new enemies, new prayers, Qualit…

Conscript is an old school survival horror game where the horror is just that you’re in World War 1-

A survival horror game set in the trenches of Verdun during the first World War will release this week. Conscript puts your lone soldier in the trenches, moving between blockhouses and safe zones in an attempt to find your brother who has gone missing in action. To that end you’ll stab, shoot, and sneak your way through the trenches, planning the best routes and conserving your limited resources whenever possible.

Conscript is very clearly inspired by survival horror classics, especially the early Resident Evil  games. You’ll do lots of note keeping for all the little puzzle solving and backtracking, being sure to take a close look at your map of the trench environment as you go back and forth between areas. It has save rooms, and all that.

Watch On

World War 1 is definitely a novel theme for this kind of Survival Horror, but a fitting one. What’s a more interesting, maze-like level design than a complex trench network that has been shattered by artillery fire? The …

Dragon Age 4 just lost its veteran production director-

Mac Walters, lead writer on Mass Effect 2 and 3 as well as creative director on Mass Effect: Andromeda, has departed BioWare after 19 years at the studio. Walters had been working as the production director for the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, but it looks like that project will have to soldier on without him. Walters announced that he was leaving for new pastures in a post on LinkedIn last weekend (via Eurogamer).

“At the end of last year I decided to leave BioWare,” wrote Walters, even though “These past 19 years have been a life-changing experience […] and it made the choice to go very difficult”. But he left nevertheless, and his LinkedIn career history now lists him as departing his production director position after exactly one year in the role, from January 2022 to January 2023.

It’s difficult to know exactly what this means for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s development. In an interview with, uh, BioWare last year, Walters described the production director role lik…

Fortnite adding multiple career-spanning Eminem skins alongside a live event blowout that ‘marks a new beginning’-

Fortnite is re-introducing its big live events on December 2, with a blowout called Big Bang headlined by Eminem. The rapper posted a short video to X with the line “calling all grandmas”, with the lyrics to his 2020 song Tone Deaf playing atop it:

Bitch, I can make “orange” rhyme with “banana” (Yeah)

Ornana

Eating pork rinds, sword fightin’ in pajamas

At the crib, playin’ Fortnite with your grandma

But I’m more like a four-five with the grammar

Ornana. Fortnite OG, the wildly successful return to the game’s roots, is running for another week, and following some scheduled downtime earlier this week the data-scrapers were straight in there to dig out some promotional images showing the star in two flavours: his early bleach-blonde look, and a more contemporary bearded version in suit and fedora. There’s also a skin called Marshall Magma which players will receive for attending the event.

Turkey just straight-up banned Roblox for ‘child exploitation’

The Turkish government has effectively banned Roblox in the country, blocking access to all users citing concerns over “child exploitation.” The move comes five days after the same body, the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), blocked Instagram in the country, for which no reason has been given (although it is speculated that this relates to how the platform restricted posts about Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, following his assassination).

An official from the BTK outlined four reasons for the ban to the publication Turkey Today. First is “sexual exploitation concerns”, with the ban “primarily driven by reports of sexual content on Roblox that allegedly exploits children.” The second is “rampant reports of pedophilia”, with “the platform’s virtual parties accused of being a gathering spot for pedophiles”, which ties into the third problem: Robux. The BTK claims Robux is used “to incentivize children’s participa…
